The annual event has provided more than $1.25 million to non-profits over the past 22 years.

(BEAUMONT, Calif. June. 11, 2018) – More than 400 golfers took to the fairways at the 22nd Annual Morongo Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, June 11 to support local schoolchildren and provide assistance to grieving families.

Held at the beautiful Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, Calif., the tournament raised $50,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Gorgonio Pass to provide hundreds of local schoolchildren with new clothes and backpacks stuffed with school supplies for the upcoming 2018-19 school year.

The Morongo tournament also raised $20,000 to The Unforgettables Foundation, which offers care to Inland families following the death of a child, as well as financial assistance to help pay for a dignified and respectful burial.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs and The Unforgettables provide compassionate and critical services to families in need and those in crisis across our region,” said Morongo Tribal Council Member Damon Sandoval. “Morongo believes in giving back to the community, and we want to thank the golfers and sponsors who helped make our Charity Golf Tournament an incredible success again this year.”

Since its launch in 1997, the Morongo Charity Golf Tournament has raised more than $1.25 million to support dozens of local nonprofits that serve veterans, children, schools and hospitals.

“Morongo values student learning and helps ensure that hundreds of local kids are ready to start the new school year with new shoes and school supplies,” said Amy Herr, chief executive officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Gorgonio Pass. “Year after year, Morongo is always there to generously support our programs and the students and families we serve.”

Tim Evans, who co-founded The Unforgettables 19 years ago, also thanked the tribe for its longstanding support of the foundation’s work.

“Morongo's generous contributions to The Unforgettables Foundation over the years have helped hundreds of families in crisis as they coped with unthinkable tragedy – the sudden death of a child. The tribe’s support is always deeply appreciated,” Evans said.

The Morongo Charity Golf Tournament is one of several annual community events conducted by the Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa and the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, which donates more than $1 million annually to local and national nonprofit organizations and charities.
