To protect and safeguard the rights of Indian children and families by ensuring ICWA compliance.
To preserve our families by providing immediate access to multiple resources in times of crisis.
Our Purpose
Morongo Child and Family Services is a department under Morongo Social Services that provides the Morongo Community with all services related to the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and provides families in crisis with access to community resources with an emphasis in empowering, protecting, preserving and strengthening our families.
Our Clients
Morongo Child and Family Services (MCFS) provides a wide range of services to all Morongo Families. Tribal members are eligible to receive services under ICWA while all members of the Morongo Community receive services through the Prevention and Education program that is an integral part of MCFS.
Morongo Band of Mission Indians employs a variety of support and professional personnel to assist in daily operations. Morongo Tribal Administration and Enterprises is comprised of Social Services, Fire Department, Public Works, Education Services, Canyon Lanes Bowling Center, Morongo Travel Center, Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon, Hadley Fruit Orchards, and much more.
All offers of employment to applicants are required to satisfactorily complete a background investigation, drug screening and other related verifications specific to job opening.

Prevention Education Program
This program serves Tribal Members, Descendants, Morongo Elders and the Morongo Community
Services includes:
- Annual Thrive Health Fair
- Alcohol & Drug Education
- Suicide Prevention & Awareness
- Teen Dating/Pregnancy Prevention
- Cyberbullying Awareness
- Mental Health Awareness
- Educational Workshops

Elders Services
The Morongo Elder Services program
offers customized support to elders and disabled adults, aiming to improve their quality of life by fostering independence and encouraging community engagement.
Services includes:
- Assistance with advocacy, appointments & paperwork: Social Security, Medicare Applications, etc…
- Referrals to resources & senior services
- Transportation to appointments
- In-home counseling services
- Companionship home visits & wellness checks
- Elder Abuse reporting
- Lending closet of durable medical equipment: Walkers, wheelchair, mobile scooters, etc.
- Caregiving referrals
- Financial Support to offset costs: Respite care, wellness related emergencies & more
- Educational Workshops
Native American
Foster Families Needed
Traditionally Native American people have cared for their children through extended families. It’s common for relatives to care for one another’s children in times of need.
Becoming a foster parent is another way to carry on this tradition by keeping tribal history and values alive for future generations.

Child & Family Services
We offer the following services to
Tribal Members & Descendants
- Individualized care management
- Support during visits from Child Protective Services (CPS)
- Facilitation & supervision of family visits
- Support for Morongo children in foster care
- Ensuring foster children maintain cultural & traditional ties with the Tribe
- Case Management for Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) case in Tribal & State court
Tribal Court Management Services
Services includes:
- Case Management for dependency & adults
- Conservatorship for the Estate (COE) & Conservatorship of the Person (COP) for the disabled
- Legal Guardianship
MTSS through the Tribal Court is involved in Ordinance 42-Vulnerable Adult Protection (conservatorship) matters. Please contact us if you or your loved ones have any questions about the process.
