SCE recognizes that power outages are never convenient. Sometimes we need to replace a power pole or do other routine maintenance on the electrical equipment in your area, which leads to a “planned maintenance outage.” While planned maintenance outages for pole and equipment replacements are inconvenient, they are necessary for maintaining a safe and reliable grid, and to keep you and our crews safe.
So, what can you do to prepare?
Step 1
Ensure notifications are on at sce.com’s Preference Center. You can sign up for outage alerts, edit your contact information, and manage other account preferences too. We send maintenance outage notifications approximately 10 days in advance to those customers who have elected to receive digital notifications.
Step 2
You can view outages on SCE’s interactive outage map. including current power outages and scheduled outages in your area. You can also report an outage online or by calling 1-800-611-1911.
Step 3
Finally, if you don’t want to be without power during the next outage, then shop in the SCE Marketplace. You’ll find portable generators and power stations to keep your lights on. Some small portable power stations are as low as $50 and some customers in high fire risk areas are eligible for rebates.
Although unforeseen circumstances may delay or postpone planned projects, we proactively work to reduce the outage footprint to the smallest area possible, for the shortest duration possible. We also bundle work wherever feasible, to complete multiple projects in one outage event without having to affect our communities on multiple occasions.
